Always Know What's Next

You don’t need to have every detail figured out before talking with us about your remodel. Our process helps you turn your ideas into a clear scope of work, with time to understand the costs and make decisions about your home’s design and functionality.

We guide you through planning and construction, with a BlueLadder Builders owner directly involved in your project.

Along the way, you’ll have regular updates and a place to keep track of the details. Here’s what you can expect when we work together.

Our Remodeling Process

01

Let's Talk About Your Project

Our first conversation is about what you want to change and why. Tell us what isn’t working in your home, the ideas you’ve been considering, and when you’d like the work to happen.

We’ll also talk about budget so we can help you understand how your goals and the potential scope fit together.

You don’t need finished plans or every selection made to get started. This conversation is meant for both of us to learn and walk away with a better understanding of what to expect.

02

In-Home Visit

Next, one of our partners visits your property to see the space and talk through the possibilities with you.

We look at the existing layout and conditions, take measurements, and discuss the changes that would make the biggest difference in how you use your home.

This is your chance to share inspiration, ask questions, and point out the details that matter to you. It also helps us identify areas that may need further evaluation by an architect or structural engineer.

03

Review Your Detailed Proposal

You’ll receive a written proposal that explains the work we’re pricing, what’s included, and what falls outside that scope. We also identify allowances for selections so you can understand what has been budgeted for materials you haven’t chosen yet.

We walk through the proposal with you and discuss any adjustments before moving forward. If a choice affects the price or scope, we want you to understand that connection.

Once we’ve agreed on the work, we review the agreement and payment milestones so you know what you’re committing to and when payments will be due.

04

Work Through Design & Selections

With the agreement in place, we coordinate the design and engineering support your project needs. We work with outside architects, designers, and structural engineers, and we’re happy to collaborate with professionals you’ve already selected.

Together, we work through the layout and material decisions that shape both the design and everyday functionality of your home. We explain how those choices affect construction and cost, helping you make decisions that fit the agreed scope.

Some projects need more planning than others. Removing a structural wall or building an addition requires a different level of coordination than updating a room within its existing footprint. But don't worry, we'll cover all of this in detail.

05

Prepare for Construction

Before construction starts, we manage the required permitting and build out the project schedule. We also discuss access to your home, protection of surrounding spaces, and how the work may affect your daily routine.

You’ll have access to JobTread, our project portal, where you can follow the schedule and keep track of project information.

Permit reviews and material availability can affect the start date, and we’ll explain how those moving parts influence the plan.

06

Build With Ongoing Communication

Our team manages construction, coordinates the trades, and keeps you informed as your project takes shape. One of BlueLadder’s owners remains directly involved, giving you someone who knows your project and can help work through decisions.

Progress updates and photos in JobTread help you follow the work, even when you’re away from home. Site protection and cleanup are also part of how we care for your property during construction.

If you request a change or we uncover a condition that affects the work, we explain the next steps and document scope and pricing changes through a written change order. We’ll also discuss any effect on the schedule so you can make an informed decision.

07

Walk Through the Remodeled Space

We complete an internal quality check before walking through the project with you. Together, we review the finished work and identify any remaining items that need attention.

Those details become the final punch list, giving us a clear record of what needs to be addressed as we bring your project to completion.

08

Ongoing Support

BlueLadder Builders provides a one-year workmanship warranty, along with applicable manufacturer warranties for installed products. If a concern comes up after completion, reach out immediately so we can review it with you and explain the next steps.

Hear From Your Neighbors

John, Nick and Chris did a fabulous job on a few home renovations for our family. I then used them on a larger construction project for my office - loved how it all turned out! They’re working on a large project for my parents home now and they couldn’t be more thrilled with how it’s going. Thanks so much to John, Nick, Chris and their team!
